March 31, 2005: About 9 AM, Terry Schiavo died a “calm, peaceful, and gentle death” after her feeding tube was removed in a wrenching right-to-die dispute that engulfed the courts, Capitol Hill, the White House, and a divided country.
March 30, 1863: President Abraham Lincoln signed a proclamation appointing a national day of fasting and prayer for a divided nation. In this proclamation President Lincoln stated “And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and prove by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness…let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.”
As we approach the 54th annual National Day of Prayer to be celebrated on Thursday, May 5, 2005, may we take both Scripture and President Lincoln’s words seriously. Let us join millions of Americans from across the nation to humble ourselves before Almighty God and confess on behalf of our nation the sins that have plagued us in recent years. May our prayer be that God sheds His grace upon this nation so we may return to the principles of our Founding Fathers who resolved that “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness…”
By faith, the Teachers Saving Children® Inc. – National Board of Trustees last fall made a decision to once again apply for exhibit space in the huge display area during the pre-RA activities. With God’s help our exhibit puts the facts and the wonder of human development before the largest assembly of decision-makers in the teachers’ union. The purpose of our exhibit will be to once more promote and provide educational classroom materials especially for science and health teachers. Teachers Saving Children® will be investing over $1500 for the exhibit space rental fee and miscellaneous fees.
This year the Teachers Saving Children® Inc. – National Board of Trustees has made the decision as funds are made available to purchase multiple copies of the book Angel in the Waters by Regina Doman for our special feature item. This book is about a tiny baby who while growing in its mother’s womb explores the waters and talks with the angel who is there. This book will be an excellent resource to use with pre-school and elementary age children. High school child care classes will also be able to use this book as well. Teachers Saving Children® has found over the past several years a high interest in the materials that we have purchased for our exhibit. It is our hope to raise the money needed to purchase a reasonable quantity of these materials as well as other valuable educational materials and videos that will be given away free of charge.
Through your giving of $5, $10, $20, and more, the Lord continues to miraculously provide the finances for this special ministry opportunity, and for that provision we are grateful. However, additional contributions are needed as we continue to prepare for this exhibit. Please prayerfully consider being a part of this special endeavor by sending in your contribution today.

If, in one way or another the message is communicated that teen pregnancy will cause more of a problem than teen sex, then we are inadvertently creating an incentive for abortion. After all, if one can abort the pregnancy without the family’s knowledge, why endure the trouble that will result by revealing it?
Parents in the home need to clearly communicate that although they have a standard of abstinence, if their teenager is pregnant or has contracted a sexually transmitted disease, they need to know they can come to you. Untreated STD’s can turn into pelvic inflammatory disease, which often renders girls infertile. We, parents, and the Church, need to make it clear that our goal is to encourage chastity, not punish pregnancy.

1. Election of Officers for the 2005-2006 fiscal year was held. Connie Bancroft will serve as the Executive Director; Gary Winney will serve as the Assistant Executive Director; Marianne O’Donnell will serve as Secretary; David Kaiser will serve as Treasurer.
2. The Board of Trustees approved an amendment to the Constitution & Bylaws: Article 2.5 Collection of Membership Fees. Beginning with the 2005-2006 membership year, State Affiliate Chapters shall receive 70% of the dues collected by the National Corporation from members residing within the State of the Affiliated Chapter. This percentage is a decrease from the current 80% being distributed to State Affiliate Chapters.
3. The Board of Trustees discussed the TSC exhibit for the NEA Expo 2005. It was approved to purchase with the funds made available as large a quantity as possible the book Angel in the Waters by Regina Doman. All monies for these purchases as well as other materials will need to be raised.

Robin is very actively involved in her local church. She is involved in the women’s ministry, WILLOWS, and chairs the Mentoring committee. She also teaches home Bible studies and sings in the Joyful Hearts, the senior choir. Robin serves on the Faith Mission Committee and has served as a short term missionary with SEND to the Ukraine. She has made two trips to the Ukraine where she has taught women Bible studies, worked with the children, and taught conversational English.
Robin is married to G. William Ross. They have one daughter, Sarah, who is married to Keith Lindsay. They have three grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, and Joshua (who is recently adopted).

Pam is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she majored in Spanish with a minor in Reading. She received her Master’s degree from Miami University in Reading Education. Pam currently teaches Spanish 1, 2, and 3 at Princeton High School. Prior to being transferred to the high school for the 2004-2005 school year, Pam taught Spanish and Reading at Princeton Junior High School for 17 years. In all, Pam has taught a total of 23 years.
Pam is married to Ron Hobson who is a Maintenance Technician for Metro Prop Reality. Her husband also works in his own business hosting and developing web sites. Both Pam and Ron are members of the Springdale Church of the Nazarene where Pam has been a choir member for several years and Ron serves as the Webmaster and Video Director. Pam has also been on two mission trips to Peru. Recently she has become involved in the Compassion Ministries of her church by sponsoring two children, one of whom is a pastor’s daughter from Mexico.

Ohio: The Ohio State Affiliate Chapter Board of Trustees met on April 2, 2005. The Board of Trustees approved Constitution & Bylaws language that aligned their document with recent approved changes in the National Constitution & Bylaws. Marianne O’Donnell was approved as their representative to the National Board for the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

Pennsylvania: The Pennsylvania State Affiliate Chapter Board of Trustees has a new board member, Julie Myers. The Board of Trustees still needs one more board member. Please contact Robin Ross, the PA Executive Director, if interested in being involved as a board member. The PA Board of Trustees will meet on May 21, 2005 for their spring meeting.

Other State Affiliates: The National Office is still receiving inquiries about state affiliate chapters in other states. Interest has especially been shown in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and New Jersey. If anyone from these three states is interested in helping to get an affiliate state chapter started, please contact the National Office for further information.
Although the time for formal application may not occur until later, there is definite potential for an affiliate state chapter within other states. Right now the best strategy for beginning a state affiliate chapter is to first build a foundation through a solid membership base. As we continue to work with state leadership, we ask for your prayers and your patience.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives

In the final analysis, it is between you and God
