"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
I am often drawn to this passage of Scripture as I watch how the Lord does do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Too often, we have a low concept of what the Lord can and will do for us as His children. And then when He blesses beyond our imagination, we should not be, but are often surprised.
For the past nine years, the Lord has granted me the opportunity to attend the NEA RA. Each year more and more conservatives are networking together to take a stand for what is truly right according to Biblical principles. What a powerful influence this small group of individuals has been. For “greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world.”(I John 4:4 KJV)
Each year, individuals who are entrenched in the inner workings of the NEA are becoming more concerned about the conservative influence at the RA. Although a democratic organization, each year we see new strategies being used to silence the conservative voice.
Yet, the Lord is faithful to reveal His truth. Of the nine years we have had the opportunity to be present – seven of those years have included an exhibit. And once again, the Lord has been faithful. Here in Ohio conservative delegates have gained respect. Several conservative individuals made application to run as state at-large delegates. I know of at least two (including myself) who gained state at-large delegate status by acclamation. In fact, in my unit there were three seats available and only two individuals (including myself) applied. In another unit, there were seven individuals running for three allocated positions. The conservative individual had the highest number of votes. As I read through the list of delegates, I also noticed that other conservatives who did not win their election were very high on the alternate list with a good number of votes. I believe there are two reasons for these types of victories. First of all, the Lord’s power is being poured out through His people. Secondly, when conservatives take the time to vote, they will choose conservatives to represent them. Our God is an awesome and all powerful God; we need to live and talk and vote like we believe it.
I remember years ago, a conservative educator encouraged individuals to run for NEA delegate and then to trust the Lord for the results. I really believe that when we have the right concept of God, we will experience many blessings beyond our imagination because of His power that is at work within us. And we should never be surprised at what the Lord will do! Truth will win! The victory is His! All we need to do is remain faithful to His calling.
A new poll conducted by Gallup finds that most Americans still oppose most abortions and back limits like parental notification but they don’t support a Constitutional amendment banning most abortions. On the matter of abortion in general, 54 percent of Americans oppose either all or most abortions as thirty-nine percent of those polled believe abortion should only be legal in a few rare circumstances, such as rape, incest or to prevent the death of the mother. Another 16 percent say abortion should never be legal. Just 42 percent generally support legalized abortion with 26 percent saying it should always be legal and 16 percent saying it should be legal in most circumstances. But on the question of a Constitutional amendment banning all abortions except for those to save the life of the mother, Americans oppose it by a 61-37 percent margin. The number favoring such a ban could have been significantly higher had rape and incest been included in it. Meanwhile, as the Supreme Court considers a case this week on a New Hampshire law to require parental notification before a teen girl can have an abortion, 69 percent say that’s a good idea and just 28 percent oppose it.

A new study says that abstinence education has been responsible for helping reduce the poverty rate among African Americans. Janice Crouse of the Beverly LaHaye Institute found that the birth rate of unwed black teens has lowered 42 percent since 1991. Poverty has dropped at the same time. “The promotion by our government of abstinence programs, the reforms in welfare and the increased emphasis on personal responsibility and self reliance are paying off and they’re paying off big time,” Crouse told Family News in Focus. David Almasi of Project 21 said black teens used to scoff at abstinence. “But now they’re saying, ‘No, there’s an opportunity where you can get away from disease, you can get away from the heartbreak of bad relationships,’ and that’s by, and going through abstinence and waiting till you’re married” he explained.

Rhode Island has banned abstinence education programs from public schools, saying that the programs violate students’ rights. Education Commissioner Peter McWalters sent letters to schools last week directing them to stop any programs that teach abstinence. He attacked classes taught by Heritage of Rhode Island saying they were supposedly never approved by state officials. “We’ve known for some time that abstinence-only is bad science, bad policy, and a blatant violation of medical ethics and basic human rights,” said James Wagoner, president of Advocates for Youth, in a statement praising the decision.

The Lord continues to expand our territory of ministry opportunity! A mission field in Orlando is being laid out before us. From June 30 – July 2, 2006, hundreds of exhibitors will participate in the NEA Expo 2006. Through our exhibit, thousands of educators, their guests, and NEA staff will be reached with the pro-life message.By faith, the Teachers Saving Children® Inc. – National Board of Trustees last fall made a decision to once again apply for exhibit space in the huge display area during the pre-RA activities. With this decision there is an investment of over $1500 for the exhibit space rental fee and miscellaneous fees alone.
With God’s help our exhibit puts the facts and the wonder of human development before the largest assembly of decision-makers among educators across this nation. We have found over the past several years a high interest, especially among science and health teachers, in the materials that we have purchased for our exhibit. These materials include approved brochures which are age-appropriate, positive, colorful, and scientifically accurate. We also purchase videos, CDs, and books that encourage a respect for human life. It is our hope to raise the money needed to purchase a reasonable quantity of these materials that will be given away free of charge.
As funds are available, materials are purchased for distribution. Each year we rely on the goodness of God and His people to raise the money for this effective pro-life education ministry. We have never been disappointed with His provision. Please prayerfully consider being a part of this special endeavor by sending in your contribution today.

1. Election of Officers for the 2006-2007 fiscal year was held. Connie Bancroft will serve as the Executive Director; Gary Winney will serve as the Assistant Executive Director; Juanita Sattler will serve as Secretary; David Kaiser will serve as Treasurer.
2. The Board of Trustees approved an amendment to the Resolution for State and Regional Affiliates. This resolution outlines the process for starting and maintaining a State and/or Regional Affiliate.
3. The Board of Trustees discussed “The Wonder of Life” exhibit for the NEA Expo 2006. We are still looking for ideas for a book or video/DVD to purchase as our main distribution item. All monies for these purchases as well as other materials will need to be raised.
4. The Board of Trustees received a report from Gary Winney about the progress of our video project. This video will be used to promote Teachers Saving Children® through the website and conferences.
5. The Board of Trustees discussed the publicity brochure and its purpose. There was discussion about ways to change the brochure to encourage more educators to become a part of being a “Voice for Life in Education.”
Although the time for formal application may not occur until later, there is definite potential for an Affiliate State or Regional Chapter within other states and regions across the nation. Individuals from California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Washington, and Wisconsin have expressed interest in getting an affiliate started in their state. These individuals are looking for others who would be willing to help them with the affiliation process.
As we continue to work with state leadership, we ask for your prayers and your patience. The process seems very slow, especially within an “instant-minded” society. However, the Teachers Saving Children® - National Board of Trustees believes in doing everything “above board” from the very beginning. That is why the Board in 1995 very carefully discussed, wrote, and approved a resolution for the affiliation process. This year the Board of Trustees amended that resolution. The affiliation process not only helps with the integrity of the organization, but also helps the organization to have greater impact.
