Where were you on November 4, 2008?
That is the question that will resound for years to come for every American citizen. Each one of us will, from this day forward, look back on the events of November 4, 2008, and remember – both the developments of that day and our own involvement, or non-involvement, in those historic events.
As I write this article, the citizens of the United States have indicated through their vote that Barack Obama should be the next President of the United States. The final phase of the Presidential Election will actually take place on December 15, 2008, when the Electoral College convenes in their respective state capitals around the nation to cast their votes in electing the President and the Vice-President of the United States.
In early American history, as our nation was on the brink of collapse, the Constitutional Convention delegates spent days debating behind closed doors. At one point during the proceedings, when failure seemed imminent, Benjamin Franklin rose to speak to the delegates, challenging them to begin each session in prayer. It was a crucial time in our history, but our forefathers saw the importance of taking time to seek guidance and wisdom from Almighty God. From that day forward, the Constitutional Convention proceeded without further disruption.
Once again, we are at a pivotal place in our nation’s history. Tumultuous as these current days may seem, there is still hope. The one place where hope can be found has not even been mentioned by our nation’s leaders – and that is seeking God through prayer and fasting. However, have we become too dependent these days upon our political system to determine the future of our nation?
While the events of November 4, 2008 may make it easy to become discouraged and to despair, we will not and we can not. For it does not matter who won the Presidential election – or any election, for that matter. These top 10 predictions are solid (Source: “Aufrance Monday Fodder,” September 25, 2008):
1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
2. Prayer will still work.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move.
4. God will still inhabit the praise of His people.
5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.
6. There will still be singing of praise to God.
7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.
8. There will still be room at the Cross.
9. Jesus will still love you.
10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.
Isn’t it great to know who is really in control? It isn’t the President of the United States or Congress. It is the God of the Universe.
And the mission that God has laid before us has not changed. Teachers Saving Children® continues to be committed to its purpose statement: “…an organization of pro-life teachers and other concerned citizens whose primary purpose is a commitment to establishing a respect for all human life from conception to natural death, especially among professional educators' organizations.” That has been our focus since our inception and that will continue to be our focus. Although the challenge seems steeper now, we will continue to be a voice for LIFE in education. The lives of pre-born children – our future students – depend on our determination to continue to fight for their protection.
However the Lord leads us and engages us in this battle for Life, we need to be willing to step a little farther out of our comfort zone. Let the Lord empower you (and me) to more boldly proclaim the Truth regarding the sanctity of human life. It is but a small sacrifice to pay when it comes to the precious lives of the children we are called to protect.
The Freedom of Choice Act overturns virtually all federal and state pro-life laws. FOCA would also overturn all restrictions on public funding of abortion and require we, the taxpayers, to pay for elective abortions.
What FOCA does:
* Creates a new federal right to abortion and would repeal the Hyde Amendment, allowing unlimited federal funding for abortion.
* Removes all safeguards (“interferences”) currently in place at the state or federal level. These include:
o Full disclosure to the patient (ultrasound images of the unborn child, details about pain inflicted on the baby,
any information about long-term complications for the mother)
o Parental notification for minors seeking abortion
o Waiting periods
o Restrictions based on fetal viability, allowing for abortion on demand through the ninth month of pregnancy
o Protections for doctors and nurses who refuse to perform or assist in an abortion
o Protections for religiously affiliated hospitals, as well as public hospitals, that currently do not perform abortions
o Exclusions for abortion coverage from health care plans of federal employees
* Overturns the partial-birth abortion ban, a gruesome late-term procedure involving the forced extraction of the infant from the mother’s womb; insertion of a device to suction the brains from the baby’s skull, allowing for the skull to be crushed, facilitating its removal from the birth canal.
The majority of Americans support these common-sense protections. The Freedom of Choice Act is extreme even for many who identify themselves as "Pro-Choice."
Contact your U.S. Senators and Representatives and urge them to oppose the Freedom of Choice Act.

Demoting Dingell because he isn’t “liberal enough” only divides the Democracts further. Several of the party’s rank and file spoke out on Thursday in protest. One member who refused to be identified even said that the leadership was “in orbit; they think it’s a California takeover.” With health care and sex education firmly in Waxman’s control, trouble is already brewing for the pro-family community. You may remember that Waxman was the one who used your taxpayer dollars to launch unsubstantiated attacks on the validity of abstinence education and pregnancy care centers.
As upsetting as the appointment is, FRC was relieved to learn from our sources on the Hill that the leadership will not pursue the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) next year. Thanks to FRC Action’s ads, more Americans are aware of FOCA’s devastating impact on the life movement. Now that our friends are rallying against FOCA, Democrats have decided the issue carries too much political risk. They plan to postpone the legislation until they can chip away at smaller pockets of the values movement.
With Waxman’s appointment and today’s [November 21, 2008] story that President-elect Obama is delaying the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, it seems the leadership plans to attack life and family by quietly dismantling things that won’t make front-page news, like increasing taxpayer funding of abortions, ending conscience protections, and inhibiting free speech….
