“By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.”
Though Judy first emailed me for directions, I did not get her email before her departure time. I called both her home and cell phones, leaving a basic voicemail with directions, and asked her to call me back to confirm receipt. While she didn’t receive either of my messages, she ended up calling me anyway, shortly after starting out, when she stopped for gas and a bite to eat on the road. I gave her clear instructions. “Get on Route A and stay on this route until you are about an hour from my home. Then call me, and I’ll guide you to my house.” She informed me that her husband had programmed their new GPS (Global Positioning System) right before she took off, and that by following its directions; she should have no difficulty arriving at my house at the arranged time.
About two and a half hours later, my friend and I made phone contact again. I inquired about her location. When she told me where she was, I was startled. “What are you doing on that route?” I asked, absolutely bewildered.
“This is where the GPS took me!” was Judy’s reply, and she was obviously aware of the fact, at this point, that she had been taken far out of the way. Instead of guiding her down the most direct route, the GPS had been taking her out of the way, on the major routes and highways, resulting in an additional hour on the road.
I told my friend to call me as soon as she reached a certain location. From there I guided her, exit by exit and street by street, to my house. For almost 2 hours, I became her GPS by phone! What an adventure!
Now, knowing Judy’s “directional disability,” and the location of her seminar, I had already planned to drive her to the seminar and then to pick her up later that day. Also, when all was over, and she left to go home, I was careful in writing directions to Route A which would take her to familiar territory, then asked her to call me when she reached specific points. I wanted to make sure she arrived home safely.
Before my friend had left and as we talked at a restaurant that Saturday evening, she commented that while she was ready to throw her family’s Global Positioning System unit “out the window,” the perfect GPS already existed--“God Piloting His Servants”. I thought about that. It was a phrase to remember. There are certainly many examples in Scripture of God’s guidance in the lives of His children. The opening Scripture that I chose for this month, for instance, is just one of those many examples. The Lord uses different means to guide His people, yet He guides without fail. As we seek the Lord in decisions for our lives, He faithfully leads us in the right direction.
I am so thankful for how the Lord has guided the Teachers Saving Children® Board of Trustees in the many decisions they have made over the past 17 years. There have been many times those decisions have not been easy, but yet these Board members have sought God’s guidance in overcoming obstacles and reaching resolution. These individuals are committed to the cause of Life and will continue to use the GPS--“God Piloting His Servants”--system for direction. In so doing, they will remain a voice desperately needed in our nation, and among our fellow colleagues, today.
I’m small but everything about me was decided
by the 23 chromosomes from my mommy
and 23 from my dad
I’m a girl and will have red hair,
and brown eyes, and love flowers.
Am I human? Absolutely!
I’m sure not a potato or a cat.
Am I alive?
Positively – and growing rapidly.
Check on me next week
and I’ll let you know how I’m doing.

Bonytown Beach, FL (LifeNews.com) – A Florida public school teacher accused of having sex with two of his students and using an abortion to cover up his actions appeared before a judge on Monday. Former Santaluces High School drama teacher Andrew Foster had his parents vouch for him but the judge denied him bail. Fosters parents said the 27-year-old is a Christian man who graduated from a Christian school and is actively involved in religious activities. Al and Cheryl Foster, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, said nothing in his past would lead them to believe he would prey on teenagers for sex. But Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Lucy Chernow Brown decided Foster would be held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond on charges he had sex with two of his students. “This is a dangerous crime and he’s a danger to the community.” Judge Brown said. “A 17-year-old has no legal right to consent to have a sexual contact with an adult.” One of the victims, who is 18, told authorities that after she got pregnant Foster took her to an abortion center for an abortion. He signed papers on the girl’s behalf to get the abortion.

Once again we have the opportunity to reach thousands of educators with the pro-life message. The NEA Expo 2008 will be held July 1-3 in Washington DC prior to the NEA RA. The purpose of the exhibit will be to promote and provide educational classroom materials especially for science and health teachers.
Although our application for the exhibit space is not due until March 15, 2008, the sooner we submit our application, the better opportunity we have for prime exhibit space. We are still in need of approximately $350 before we can officially process the application for the exhibit space. Please consider financially assisting Teachers Saving Children® in sharing the truth about “The Wonder of Life.”
Note: Please make checks payable to “TSC Inc. – National”. Please carefully note how the amount given is to be designated (NEA Exhibit) so that the contribution will be appropriately allocated.
Teachers Saving Children® now has a promotional DVD, which is about 8 minutes in length, available to assist individuals with encouraging their colleagues to join other educators in being a “Voice for Life”. The DVD was sent to selected individuals this past summer and will be sent to selected organizations this fall. It can also be viewed through a link on our website homepage.
A few copies of the DVD are available immediately and additional copies will be available if there is a need. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the DVD, please contact the national office at 330-821-2747 or tsc-life@juno.com. Though there is no charge for the DVD, a small donation would be appreciated to help cover the costs of production and postage.

Please note: There were a large number of membership renewals paid prior to September 1, 2007. In addition, there were some large expenses this summer as we reprinted the brochure and completed the DVD project. Thank you for helping the Board to have a better picture of what our finances would be like for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. A reminder that all memberships are now being handled through the National Office. Teachers Saving Children® does not solicit additional contributions beyond memberships, but does appreciate any additional contributions received throughout the year.
The National Teachers Saving Children® Board of Trustees would like to express their thanks to everyone who has taken the time to renew. As of September 30, 2007 there are 297 paid National Teachers Saving Children® members. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. If you have not yet done so, there is still time to join and receive full membership benefits. Membership cards will be mailed later this month.
Michigan: There has been a change in the fall meeting date of the Michigan Board of Trustees. They will now be meeting on October 28 in Rochester Hills, MI.
Pennsylvania: After ten years as a Board of Trustees member and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Affiliate State Chapter, Linda Burroughs has submitted her resignation which was effective August 31, 2007. She is the final board member who was still serving from the initial group that established the Pennsylvania Chapter. Our sincere thanks and best wishes to Linda. She has served us very well and will be greatly missed.
The Pennsylvania Board of Trustees has approved Patricia Bartow as a new board member for that State Affiliate. Patricia has been serving as their State Affiliate newsletter editor and will continue to do so.
Other State/Regional Affiliates: Many have inquired about other affiliates. The best assistance individuals can give is to spread the word about Teachers Saving Children®. Contact the national office for more information as to how you can help spread the word and be a voice for life.
