FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Connie Bancroft
It is hard to believe that it is October already. For most of us that means we are all busy with our students as well as with our families and other personal interests. However, the battle for life becomes more intense each day as the lives of unborn children continue to be taken from us.
The need for an organization such as Teachers Saving Children® is vital in today's society. It is important for the people at the grassroots level to get involved. I feel, along with the rest of the TSC Board of Trustees, that you need to stay informed as to the happenings of TSC. That is why we send out a bi-monthly newsletter and why the Board is planning the General Membership Gathering for this month.
I also want to encourage those of you who have not renewed your membership or who have not yet joined us to do so this month. The membership year runs from September 1 - August 31 and the impact we will have will be dependent upon the number of people we represent. You do NOT have to be a member of NEA or AFT to join TSC. We need all of you who agree with our purpose to join us and help us fight for the lives of the unborn.
Am looking forward to meeting many of you on October 16th. Let's continue to work together to save both the lives of the unborn and America's schools.

OEA DISTRICT & STATE RA DATES SET
OEA districts will be holding their Representative Assemblies in November. Locals elect delegates to these district meetings. It is also very important for OEA delegates to attend their district meetings as well as the OEA RA. Even though deadline dates for election of delegates is October 10th, it may not be too late to represent your local. If you do not have local representative at these meetings, contact your local president or Becky LeMasters at OEA (1-800-282-1500) to see if it is possible for your local to still be represented.
The district meetings are as follows:
COTA - not having a fall RA
ECOEA - November 20, 1993 (Saturday)
EOEA - November 18, 1993 (Thursday)
NCOEA - November 13, 1993 (Saturday)
NEOEA - November 13, 1993 (Saturday)
NWOEA- November 29, 1993 (Monday)
Briefing meeting only
SEOEA - November 17, 1993 (Wednesday)
SWOEA - November 20, 1993 (Saturday)
WOEA - November 17, 1993 (Wednesday)
If you are not a district or OEA delegate, but have an interest in what is happening, you can still attend these meetings as a visitor. To receive information on the exact location and times, please contact your local president or call OEA at 1-800-282-1550.
The OEA Representative Assembly will be Saturday December 4th at Veterans Memorial in Columbus.
Life Issues Caucus is interested in receiving the names of pro-life delegates who will be attending any of the district and/or OEA Representative Assemblies. These persons do not need to be members of TSC. Please contact Gary Winney at 216-944-4409 as soon as possible.

1994 DEMONSTRATION DATE SET
The TSC Board of Trustees has set the date of Saturday, June 4, 1994 as our annual demonstration date at OEA Headquarters in Columbus. This is the date that Ohio NEA delegates meet in Columbus for a briefing prior to the NEA Convention. The exact time and other details of the demonstration have not yet been confirmed. Any educator or concerned citizen who disagrees with the NEA pro-abortion stand may join us on this date. Suggestions for signs and posters along with a map will be sent to you in the April newsletter. Mark this important date on your calendars and begin asking your friends to do the same. We would like to make a strong showing this year as to our objection to NEA's pro-abortion stand, especially since our representation to NEA will be at this briefing.

LET'S MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD
Whether or not you are a member of the NEA, it is important that TSC members communicate their concern of the NEA/OEA's abortion position annually to both the OEA president and their local association president. Please also encourage other pro-life teachers to make their opinion heard each year at membership renewal time (October). To make change at the State and National levels our message which is rational and sensible must be heard. Please take five minutes and write a letter to Marilyn Cross, President of OEA and/or a Letter to the Editor of Ohio Schools. Letters to the editor must include the name and school district of the writer and must be no more than 150 words.
