July 6, 1991, Columbus, Ohio. The Pro-life teachers of Ohio will be holding a demonstration in front of the OEA building, 225 E Broad St., Columbus, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 6, 1991. This "Webster Anniversary Week" pro-life demonstration is sponsored by Teachers Saving Children® Inc. of Ohio. This demonstration is dedicated to the leadership of the National Education Association and the teachers of America and Ohio with the hope of saving the lives of future students.
As the NEA leaders meet at the annual NEA convention in Miami, FL this week, we, the pro-life educators of Ohio, pray that they realize how abortion on demand has become an economic disaster for their profession. Since 1973 there has been a loss of over 27,000,000 children who would have been students in America's classrooms.
The cataclysmic moral and economic consequences of the abortion holocaust are becoming more and more apparent in America especially in those professions, which are child-dependent and child-intensive such as education. The worst is yet to come: for the schools . . . for America. It is the height of foolishness to condone or support a practice (abortion) which eliminates the very people, the very clients . . . that our profession is supposed to serve.
The 8,700 delegates to the NEA convention would do well by America's children, women, and teachers to rescind and repeal NEA Resolution I-21 (1985, 1986) and New Business Item 65 (1990) which many NEA members view as being pro-abortion and a divisive misrepresentation of their profession. Pro-life teachers of Ohio are only asking that the NEA/OEA refrain from any fort of activism regarding abortion and remain clearly neutral on the issue.
We are not without support and will continue to seek neutrality in the NEA on the abortion issue.
