Those lines (even though they have nothing to do with abortion) come to my mind often whenever I think of the horror of the modern destruction of life in the womb--"The horror! The horror!"
Reflect carefully on "this image, this vision" of what is now legal in this nation and around the world:
Stage 1: Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps.
Stage 2: The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
Stage 3: The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.
Stage 4: The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
Stage 5: The scissors are removed, and a suction tube is inserted. The baby's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed and tossed into the disposal bin.
As I type this, I am sick, almost unbelieving that humans can sink to such depths of barbarism and violence! Merciful God, what do we do? "What then shall we do?" (Luke 3:10b)
Here is an excerpt from Justice Antonin Scalia's stinging dissent in the case of Stenberg v. Carhart, in which the majority of the Supreme Court held (this past July in the year of our Lord 2000) that Nebraska's ban on the procedure outlined above is unconstitutional: "I am optimistic enough to believe that, one day, Stenberg V. Carhart will be assigned its rightful place in the history of this Court's jurisprudence beside Korematsu and Dred Scott. The method of killing a human child--one cannot even accurately say an entirely unborn human child--proscribed by this statue is so horrible that the most clinical description of it evokes a shudder of revulsion...."
Korematsu, by the way, was the case that allowed the wholescale and indiscriminate internment of Japanese Americans in concentration camps in this country during W.W.II. Dred Scott was the case in which the Court ruled that slaves were not persons.
"What then shall we do?" (Luke 3:10b) Pray. Pray. Pray to end the horror of abortion. Enlist the aid of everyone you meet to speak out against this horrible crime against humanity. Join together with other individuals to present a more unified and powerful opposition to the culture of death. A major reason why Teachers Saving Children® of Pennsylvania, Inc. was founded and why it exists is that we hope to encourage teachers of every grade level, in every school, in every district, and in every state of this nation to unite with one voice and one prayer to overcome this, our modern "slaughter of the innocents." (Matthew 2:16)
Teachers of children and youth--how can any teacher be "for" the killing of the unborn? How can any teacher claim to love children and approve of or remain silent about the killing of her or his future students? "The horror! The horror!"
"What then shall we do?" I plead with everyone who is reading this to be an active member of TSC of PA, Inc. and to make it a personal goal that you will enlist at least one other teacher this academic school year to become an active member with you. I also ask that each day you pray (1) for all those who lovingly await the birth of a child, (2) for an end to the scourge of abortion, (3) for God to change the hearts of those contemplating abortion, and (4) for God to give you the wisdom to know "what else you should do" for the cause of LIFE.
Never miss the opportunity to speak out for the cause of LIFE and for children-in-the-womb. Never give in to embarrassment or peer pressure. Speak out lovingly, peacefully, respectfully but always openly, boldly, and confidently that God is the God of the living and not of the dead. (Mark 12:27)
Finally, please pray that you do not give in to discouragement, to despair, to frustration, or to doubt, despite the fact that these are very understandable and human reactions to our constant struggles and setbacks in the cause of LIFE.
The GOD of LIFE who has given us the GOSPEL of LIFE will also deliver His "little ones" from death. Be certain that the victory is ours and belongs to those babies who will one day be saved and allowed to be born and to celebrate their birthdays, no matter how long in coming and no matter how painful the journey. THINK LIFE. TALK LIFE. LIVE LIFE. BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THE GOD OF LIFE. BELIEVE IN YOUR PART IN THE CAUSE OF LIFE. Each one of us is crucially important to the cause of LIFE. Please do not doubt what you can do with God's grace and with the support of others.
"What then shall we do?" "What then shall we do?"
(Michael Grella serves as Chairman of the Department of Education at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA.)
I have been married to my husband, G. William Ross, for 43 years. We have one daughter, Sarah, who is married to Keith Lindsay. They have two children, Jessica who is three years old, and Rachel who is one year old. A great joy for me is that they live next door to me, and after retirement I anticipate spending lots of time with them.
Besides my family interest, I am involved in my church, Church of the Open Door of Shiloh, where I teach a ladies' home Bible study and sing in a Senior choir. I also will be serving on our Faith Missions Committee next year.
During my teaching career I have been active in PSEA serving at one time as President of our local association. I am financially and prayerfully involved in our local crisis pregnancy center, Human Life Services, as well as Cornerstone Maternity Home in York. I also support the PA Pro-Life Federation and the National Right to Life. I am deeply committed to pro-life, and I consider serving as a Board member of TSC of PA, an honor and a privilege. I feel the Lord has definitely led me to this ministry.
A goal I have for TSC of PA, Inc. is to see our membership increase. Join me in this effort. If each one of us could bring in one new member, we would double our membership.

PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS.
On Saturday, September 23, 2000, the Board of Trustees of TSC of PA, Inc. held their semi-annual Board Meeting in State College, PA. At the meeting various issues were discussed including the resignation due to personal reasons of Lee Keefer, one of the Board of Trustee members. Also discussed were the fiscal reports, budget, and membership reports. These have been included in this newsletter. Finally, a great deal of discussion was spent on the idea of having regional meetings so that current members and anyone interested in becoming a member can get together and share their ideas. The Southeast region has been chosen as the first location of a regional meeting due to the large number of members in this area.
